Apple came up with new affordable iPhone as per them- iPhone XR in the year of 2018. Among the three iPhones released, iPhone XR was the least expensive one. Along with a notch and Face ID, this iPhone is continuing the iPhone X lineup on the cost of Rs. 74,999.
After 2017 iPhone X, Apple continued the X lineup with three new devices- XR, XS, and XS Max. At the price higher than iPhone 8 Plus, this device was launched with solid and premium design, notch, and new A12 bionic chip. That’s what makes this the most affordable iPhone which is least expensive than all the iPhone X handsets.
Display and Design:
iPhone XR comes with an incredible design and is quite handy. iPhone XR gets no home button but all screen on the front which gives a premium feel. The device gets rounded edges and a metal glass back which is also striking.
Apple has used the same glass material in iPhone XR as they have used in high-end versions like XS and XS Max. But, the device can catch scratches on front easily. So, you must protect the phone with some screen guard. The back also is glassy but it isn’t the perfect glass but has some blend of aluminium too in it. Coming to the display, iPhone XR gets a 15.5 centimetres (6.1-inch) Liquid Retina LCD display with 1792 x 828 pixels resolution. The device gets a great display but in terms of pixels resolution, Apple’s this device is a big led down. It is approximately between 720p and 1080p. So, you can’t even watch 1080p videos on this device at this price point. The device on the front gets a FACE ID sensor on the notch with a front selfie shooter along with some sensors. The company also eradicates the feature of 3D touch. Honestly, it was a great feature but sadly, it isn’t on this Apple device anymore.
Performance:
Under the hood, Apple brings the new A12 bionic chip to handle all the enigmatic businesses. The device performs pretty fast and works excellently like any other flagship device would do. The iPhone XR scored 4754 and 9367 in single- and multi-core tests on Geekbench tests which proves how powerful this device is. The A12 Bionic chip is paired with 3GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which is non-expandable.
Coming to the gaming department, iPhone XR performs powerfully in the gaming niche too with no lags and heating.
Camera and Battery Life:
iPhone XR offers its users a single camera setup on its back with 12MP onboard with a flash. It features Portrait mode, Portrait Lighting, enhanced bokeh, and all-new Depth Control. The rear camera works excellently except when it switches to portrait mode.
For the selfies, Apple’s device packs a 7MP front-facing camera which works perfectly fine too. Apple has always been like that- it doesn’t provide big numbers on the box but still, it always rocks in the camera department. Although, it is a point of concern that at this price point why did Apple took the secondary camera away from the back.
iPhone XR packs a 2716mAH lithium-ion battery which is said to be the longest running battery among all the iPhones present. iPhone has never given the best battery devices but this is the best they have given so far. With A12 Bionic chip, the battery works more efficiently too.
Other features:
The device runs iOS 12 out of the box. The device has various connectivity options like Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, NFC, Lightning, Active 4G on both SIM cards, 3G and 4G. Inside the box, Apple gives us Ear Pods with Lightning Connector, Lightning to USB Cable, USB Power Adapter, and Documentation. iPhone XR comes in six colour variants: Black, White, Blue, Red, Coral, and Yellow.
Verdict:
iPhone XR gives decent performance, excellent camera quality, dual SIM finally comes in iPhone, best battery life among all the iPhones and moreover, the design it gets. But, with every pro comes with the cons. In this case, iPhone XR gets a thumbs down in display resolution, no fast charger, and some apps are still not fully optimized.
Should you go for it? If you are an iPhone lover, you can switch to it as it provides great value at its price. But, if you are looking more at this price range, go for Android devices like Google Pixel 3, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy Note 9.
