Hi! Friends,
In windows XP, Vista and 7 we have changed default windows alert sounds from the Control Panel, but in Windows 8 Microsoft no more allowed to to customize different alert sounds from the Control Panel.
They remove your ability to customize a few of them in Windows 8, but if you want to change the sounds for logon, logoff, and shutdown. you can do it in by registry edit, they’re just hidden, and you can unhide them with a simple registry tweak. Just follow the process:
Press Win+R to bring up the Run menu.
Type in regedit
and press OK to bring up the Registry Editor.
Now go here=> HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels
you will see a number of subfolders, each one representing a different sound in the OS. If you click on one=> WindowsLogon
you’ll see a key in the right pane called Exclude From CPL
. Double-click it and change its value to 0.
Repeat same process for WindowsLogoff and
SystemExit
.
Now Exit the Registry Editor and go back to Control Panel > Sound > Sounds.
You should see those options have returned to the menu, and you can customize them as normal.
Don’t forget to share with Friends.
